Bio

James Glenister is a French-British composer and arranger based in Paris, specialising in music for film and video games.
Born in 2000, James began playing drums and percussion at the age of six and developed his musical foundations at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Boulogne-Billancourt. Alongside percussion, he studied piano, singing, and music theory, continuing his theoretical studies throughout his childhood with Françoise Levéchin, who also taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).
In 2017, James joined the Conservatoire International de Musique de Paris (CIMP), where he continued to develop his musical knowledge and interests in harmony, composition, counterpoint, analysis, orchestration and arrangement. In 2020, he continued his training at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental Niedermeyer, where he studied harmony.
In 2025, James was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where he is currently pursuing advanced studies in film composition and arrangement, alongside training in recording and sound engineering.
Throughout his musical training, he has had the opportunity to study with composers, arrangers, and musicians including Marie-Jeanne Serero, Cyril Lehn, Marc-Olivier Dupin, Mathieu Balanant, and David Menke.
Drawing on his background in percussion, composition, arrangement, and orchestration, James develops a musical language shaped by his classical training and his interest in storytelling through film.
